Recorded live June 30th, 2008, Susan Hill, an L.A. artist and social activist since the 1980s speaks with Bill Cleveland, New Village author and long-time advocate for art as a mode for social change. Cleveland talks about what inspired his new book Art and Upheaval: Artists on the World’s Frontlines and what he sought to achieve writing it. You’ll hear stories of activist artists from Australia, South Africa and Cambodia who, in the face of great adversity, used their art to heal communities and whose work must be remembered.
